Danny Taddei’s Musical Background

Danny Taddei was born in Long Island, New York in 1963. He moved to Hong Kong in 1965 and started formal, classical piano lessons. His first performance was  singing for a local church group 1967 and from there on did regular recitals. He did not make a personal featured performance until moving to California USA in 1971, the same year he bought his first guitar . There, he made numerous piano performances at his school, church and in his bands. By age 13 he was in a professional Top-40 band, performing in and around the Los Angeles California area.

The 80‘s

The Top-40 acts branched into original acts that performed at many of the more famous clubs in the L.A. music scene, like The Troubadour, Madam Wongs and Madam Wongs West, Whiskey A Go Go and others. That era lasted from High School (1979) into the early 80’s.

At the same time Danny was playing in bands, he was dabbling in acting, only because it included music. While performing as a singing/actor in various production in and around Los Angels.  Danny was offered a chance to record his first album. More recording offers came and after a few years of studio work and local gigs his reputation was big enough to attract some top shelf music industry professionals. Opportunity kept knocking and opened the door for Danny to tour with many of the Motown acts that sculpted modern pop music.

Danny toured with many Motown and soul acts in the early to mid 80’s before opening his own recording studio in 1986. His focus went to his own compositions and soundtrack work. His last Motown work was in 1987 when he co-wrote and recorded with Sly Stone on what ended up being an unreleased LP. Over the next few years he made a dramatic change as far as the public was concerned but it was much more to the style of what Danny wanted to do from the start.

The 90’s

Danny is and always has been a surfing, sailing, barefoot, beach style guy. In 1993, he and his wife set  sail from Los Angeles CA for the Tropics aboard their sailboat, Makai.  It was August of 1997 when they finally left their boat in a canal in Miami and headed back to Oceanside CA for a few years to live near Danny’s father.

Danny is now a resident of the State of Florida but also resides part of the year in Louisiana. The music he writes and performs, reflects his lifestyle and though he is still an accomplished pianist, he now performs mostly on acoustic guitar. When you hear his recorded music, you’re often listening to his bass guitar, drums, percussion and other instrument performances as well.

Danny is performing an acoustic based, island style

folk music these days, that more then qualifies for being called Trop-Rock.

The music playing now, is Danny as a solo artist and in his unplugged band. He tours as everything from a solo performer to a 8 piece band but usually is found on stage with nothing more then his guitar or a three piece acoustic group.
