I woke up this morning, I was sitting on my boat
It was full of food and it was still afloat
I looked outside it was a beautiful day
I was the only boat sitting in the bay
A flock of parrots flew by in a row
And off in the distance there was a full rainbow
A giant set of waves breaking on the reef
Nobody out they were all for me
Time really wasn’t tickin’ the day was goin’ well
And the tropical trade winds blew a fruit salad smell
There’s only one thing that I know is true
I ain’t got nothin’ for to sing the blues
CHORUS
I ain’t got nothin’ for to sing the blues
If you’re talkin’ to me you’re gettin’ happy news
The sun’s always shinin’ the food is tasting great
I’m waking up early and I’m coming’ home late
You’ve heard it before and now I’ll tell you too
I ain’t got nothin’ for to sing the blues
I was visitin’ Florida in the summer time
People cursing ‘bout the heat they said they felt like slime
My brother in Alaska freezing off his butt
What he wouldn’t do to see a coconut
There’s only one thing that I know is true
I ain’t got nothin for to sing the blues
CHORUS
I ain’t got nothin’ for to sing the blues
If you’re talkin’ to me you’re gettin’ happy news
The sun’s always shinin’ the food is tasting great
I’m waking up early and I’m coming’ home late
You’ve heard it before and now I’ll tell you too
I ain’t got nothin’ for to sing the blue
The sky is blue just like those blue suede shoes
When the water is clear the deep blue’s near
The oceans and the heaven yes and even precious stones
It’s the universal color that won’t leave you alone
Seems everything around me something old and something new
Still I ain’t got nothin’ for to sing the blues ---------
It was given to me now it’s your turn to choose
To say you ain’t got nothin’ for to sing the blues

About “Ain’t Got Nothing”
One morning I woke up and looked outside. I was in the Northern Abacos, Bahamas. My little brother and good friend Brad Whipple, were on a fishing boat somewhere in the Bering Striates and freezing their buts off. The song tells the story and once again, when your feet are warm, your belly fed and you have someone you love next to you, you just don’t need a load of stuff.
