Kickin’ back in my hammock
On a sizzling afternoon
Trade winds tickle the palm trees
As my mind creates a tune
The movie shows as my eyelids close
I’m back in the days of old
I’m the only buccaneer and I’m sucking a beer
In a bay that no one knows
Tall ships slide the Gulf Stream
As my crew waits for their prey
Inca gold and emerald dreams
As we waste away the day
A mandolin strum and a sip of rum
Stir some coconut in with my thumb – Yum
I’m a visionary seer and a just let it be’er
With a suntan on my bum
Chorus
Doesn’t matter what is real
Only matters how it feel
Dreaming away
On a summer’s day
A dolphin pokes his head out
And together we play ball
A manatee is the referee
As we cool of in a squall
When the turtle steals third in a hurricane blur
No one even speaks a word
It was an awesome little play for a summer’s day
In the land of no demur
Chorus
Doesn’t matter what is real
Only matters how it feels
Dreaming away
On a summer’s day

About “Summer’s Day”
I think it’s kind of obvious what the song is about but since I am going through each song, I’ll write a bit about this one too. Summer’s Day is a song about a daydream. It’s about relaxing and having an adventure while doing nothing but laying back in hammock on a sunny day – the same place I’d guess most great inventions are thought of and most brilliant thoughts are dreamt.
