Captain Bravado sailed his wooden ship
Across the Spanish Main
A man to his honor and under the crown
And never spoke in vain
He captained his vessel exploring the sea
And claiming the world for his king
One afternoon the unthinkable happened
A pirate ship was seen
So he called all the men to the deck
Packed all the cannons with balls
Put on his red battle shirt, lifted his sword
And watched the pirate ship fall
After the battle the men stood around
But only one question was asked
Admiring your bravery oh Captain our Captain
Why is your battle shirt red?
He stood tall and answered so matter of fact
If wounded the blood would not show
Not knowing my fate there would be no fear
And you’d fight to the very last blow
Instrumental break (chorus changes)
The gallant vessel moved on through her charter
Collecting emeralds and gold
Stories of battle were growing in valor
Each time the story was told
Then again while anchored in harbor
Three battle ships closed toward the shore
Flying three pirate flags firing their cannons
And muskets and swinging their oars
So he called all the men to the deck
Packed all the cannons with balls
Put on his red battle shirt, lifted his sword
And watched the pirate ship fall
Weeks went by, no pirates they spied
Collecting the gold from the hills
Eating and drinking their waterline sinking
From packing the gold to the gills
The morning before they were set to sail home
Ten gun boats appeared in the mist
All of them flying their colors of battle
Ten cannons for each one of his
So he called all the men to the deck
Packed all the cannons with balls
Put on a long pair of brown battle pants
And said it been nice knowing you all.
