A Change Will Do You Good

Lobster Love and Sin

2005 Danny Taddei

Got my sails set for the islands
My rum set on my chart
I’ve got senoritas waiting
And the trade winds guide my heart
A bay waits for my anchor
I’ll take a moonlit swim
And when the stars come out I’m gonna find me

Some lobster love and sin

Chorus

From an angel of the tropics
With long soft flowing hair
She’ll have a Coconut tan from her head to the sand
And heavens waiting there
From midnight at Amalie
Down to the spiced rum of West End
When the stars come out I’m gonna find me
Some lobster love and sin

The lights of Red Hook Harbor
Reflecting off the bay
The smell of fish and chips and beer
Slowly drift my way
Steel drum music playing
Straw hats in the rain
Bikini beauties splashing
And well-aged sugar cane

Bridge

But here’s a toast
I hope it comes true
I hope you join me tonight
In the ocean so blue
May your anchor be tight
Your corks be loose
Your rum be spiced
And your compass be true

Its midnight down at Megan’s,
And all the city lights are gone
There’s just the twinkling from the heavens
And a gentle island song
The sparkles from the ocean
Reflecting in her eyes
An eternity of passion
Even if it’s just one night

Chorus

An angel of the tropics
With long soft flowing hair
A coconut tan from her head to the sand
Heavens waiting there
From a midnight at Amalie
Down to the spiced rum of West End
When the stars come out I’m gonna find me
Some lobster love and sin

Oh when the stars come out I’m gonna find me
Some lobster love and sin

When the stars come out I’m gonna find me
Some lobster love and sin

Another Beautiful Day

1998 Danny Taddei

One little cloud a trickle of rain
Makes everyone laugh as we run through the cane
Nothing to lose, so it’s only to gain
Enjoying a beautiful day

I don’t know the day and I don’t know who cares
My buddy, he plays the guitar on the stairs
The rest of them rock on the porch in their chairs
And wait for beautiful day

Oh oh a beautiful day
Another beautiful day
Oh oh a beautiful day
Another Beautiful day

Coconuts, sand and palm trees a swingin’
And all of the sound of marimbas singin’
With all of your friends you’re out there wingin’ it
‘Cause it’s a beautiful day

Tropical wind through the banana tree
It tells you it’s time to go swim in the sea
With all of your friends and as happy can be
Another beautiful day

Oh oh a beautiful day
Another beautiful day
Oh oh a beautiful day
Another Beautiful day

Sun starts to set, the coals on the rise
Sorry sir pig for your early demise
A pile of fruit, a handful of smiles
Thanks for a beautiful day

You wake up next morning, and you know the routine
A slice of papaya and you fill the canteen
So much to be do and so much to be seen
Another beautiful day
Oh oh a beautiful day
Another beautiful day
Oh oh a beautiful day
Another beautiful day

Oh oh a beautiful day
Another beautiful day
Oh oh a beautiful day
Another beautiful day

Rub It In

2000 Danny Taddei

I got a call late this morning
From a friend asking how it’s going
I said it sure as hell ain’t snowing
Sometimes you gotta rub it in

There’s reggae on the island
Bikini girls are smiling
My boats tied to a piling
Sometimes you gotta rub it in

Chorus
Rub it in – rub it in
Sometimes you gotta rub it in
Rub it in – rub it in
Sometimes you gotta rub it in

Island rum is just amazing
And the suntan bodies glazing
The temperature is raising
Sometimes you gotta rub it in

Chorus
Rub it in – rub it in
Sometimes you gotta rub it in
Rub it in – rub it in
Sometimes you gotta rub it in

When the island palms are breezing
And the girls and rum are pleasing
Your friends are back home freezing
That’s when you gotta rub it in

I met a girl with quite a rack
A thong wedged up her crack
She wanted oil on her back
Sometimes you gotta rub it in

Chorus
Rub it in – rub it in
Sometimes you gotta rub it in
Rub it in – rub it in
Sometimes you gotta rub it in

Free Man (Sailing With the Wind)

2000 Danny Taddei

Sandy toes
A sunburned nose
Salty hair
And faded clothes
A freckled neck
A leaky deck
He ain’t rich
But what the heck

Chorus
He’s a free man
With crackled lips and a grin
He’s a free man
Sailing with the wind

Wooden spars
A million stars
Fishing pole
And an old guitar
Big full moon
A simple tune
Palm trees hide
His blue lagoon

Chorus
He’s a free man
With crackled lips and a grin
He’s a free man
Sailing with the wind

Bridge
And all his life
Spent dreaming of the seas
Then one day he sailed off to the keys
Now he’s a free man
He’s a free man

Chorus
Now he’s a free man
Oh He’s a free man
He’s a free man
Sailing with the wind
Sailing with the wind

On The Island

2000 Danny Taddei

Well I’m living my life like a beer commercial
Big tall palm trees and sun
Swimming each morning and fishing for dinner
And washing it down with rum
Earning my living from the poker playing tourists
Singing in a pink hotel
Swinging in my hammock to the rhythm of the trade winds
And checking out those southern bells

Chorus
On the Island
Oh, the Island
Got all that I need and it’s all within reach on an island
On the island
Oh, the island
I got all that I need ‘cause life is a beach
On the island

Well I wake up each morning without an alarm
When the sun beams down on me
Put on my big straw hat and my dark sunglasses
And I stumble on down to the sea
I never thought I was a Casanova
But the tourists all want to be me
I’m living my life a Caribbean novel
And I’m doing it practically free

Chorus
On the island
Oh, the island
I got plenty of rum when the day is done on the island
On the island
Oh, the island
If I run out of bananas I just sail to Havana
From the island

Bridge:
So, what’s the price you pay?
I’m losing track of time
Are you happy that way?
You know I’m smiling?

I could spend the rest of my years out here on the island
On the Island
Oh, the Island

Lobster and booze, an afternoon snooze on the island
On the island
Oh, the island

You won’t get sand in your shorts
If you just leave ‘em on the porch on the island
On the island
On the island

You’ll never have to go far to find your favorite bar on the island
On the island
Oh, the island

Those tourist southern bells have such a pretty smell on the island
On the island
Oh, the island

There’s plenty of woman and they’re all in to sinning on island
They’ll always leave you alone because there ain’t no phones
On the island

Your Dreams Will Open The Door

2000 Danny Taddei

Hush little baby don’t you cry
Daddy’s going to sing you a lullaby
About slender palms and turquoise blue
On the other side of the door

There’ll be sparkling castles of coral sand
Glistening water that tickles the land
Billowing canvas so white and new
On the other side of the door

And as the bow breaks on the crest
And toys and gems fill up your chest
And as you tire and your eyes rest
Your dreams will open the door

And and the bow breaks on the crest
And toys and gems fill up your chest
And as you tire and your eyes rest
Your dreams will open the door

To those magical flowers that call your name
Pandas and parrots that all are tame
Tide pools and starfish and hidden caves
On the other side of the door

So now hush little baby your eyes so blue
Daddy’s going to sing you a song so true
Lullaby and close your eyes
To the other side of the door
Lullaby and say goodnight
Your dreams will open the door

Korina

2008 Danny Taddei

I fell in love with Korina
The girl in the white sundress
I fell in love with her smile
And soft caress
I fell in love with Korina
Like I fell in love with the sun
She melted my hear like a candle
Korina the only one.

So unsuspecting I pulled off my helmet that September day
The girl I had heard of through legend was looking my way
She climbed on my cycle and I spun the tires to my favorite cove
And under the moonlight we danced our first kisses to our true love

I fell in love with Korina
The girl in the white sundress
Korina my ballerina
The angel of tenderness
I fell in love with Korina
Like the world had just begun
Korina my ballerina
Korina, the only one

I never had too much trouble with meeting a pretty face
But when it’s the right pretty lady you feel from a different place
And love can only grow old if you let all the years drift away
So far the years of the calendar seem like one long amazing day

I still see the pictures of our wedding day
I still hear the whisper of her voice
I still feel her running fingers down my back
I still know I made my favorite choice

Because I fell in love with Korina
The girl in the white sundress
I fell in love with her smile
And all of her soft caress
I fell in love with Korina
Like I fell in love with the sun
Korina my ballerina
Korina the only one

I fell in love with Korina
The girl in the white sundress
Korina my ballerina
The angel of tenderness
I fell in love with Korina
Like I had just begun
Korina my ballerina
Korina the only one

Going Unplugged

2008 Danny Taddei

I’ve spent a whole lot of years,
Sucking it up instead of sucking ‘em down
There’s been a whole lot of sunsets
And a lot of good tunes pass me by
I’ve traded wisdom and love
Trying to fight up to that proverbial crown
I’ve earned a whole lot of debt –
Now I think that it’s time to resign

CHORUS
I’m casting off my lines
Sweeping the past under the rug
It’s time to resign
I’m going unplugged
I’m hoisting up my sails
Pour a little rum into my mug
Say good-bye to this jail
I’m going unplugged

Spend the rest of my life,
Living off fishing and playing guitar
Let all of that traffic
And the nasty old world pass me by
Trade in my fancy new car and a suit
For an evening of watching the stars
Leave it all at the shore
To find that little answer to life

CHORUS
I’m casting off my lines
Sweeping the past under the rug
It’s time to resign
I’m going unplugged
I’m hoisting up my sails
Pour a little rum into that mug
Say good-bye to this jail
Yeah, I’m going unplugged

Feeling No Pain

2008 Danny Taddei

Well cheers
It’s been a long year
I’ve made it most of the way
With pretty good days
Only shed a couple of tears

And I’m done
Another long run
And now I’m back in the place
That smiles my face
Soaking it up in the sun

Chorus

I’m going to sit in this chair
And have a good long stare at the sea
Not going to do much
But to get back in touch with me
And then someday I’m sure I’ll remember my name
And then I’ll hoist up a beer
One for each year
By sundown I’ll be feeling no pain

Well I’m there
I haven’t a care
Hang out and eat
Get some sand on my feet
Maybe breathe in some air

And dance
A little romance
Smile and spin
Show off my grin
Leaving it all up to chance

I’m going to sit in this chair
And have a good long stare at the sea
Not going to do much
But to get back in touch with me

And then someday I’m sure I’ll remember my name
And then I’ll hoist up a beer
One for each year
By sundown I’ll be feeling no pain

I’m going to sit in this chair
And have a good long stare at the sea
I’m not going to do much
But to get back in touch with me
And then someday I’m sure I’ll remember my name
And then I’ll hoist up a beer
One for each year
By sundown I’ll be feeling no pain

I’m going to hoist up a beer
One for each year
By sundown I’ll be feeling no pain

Hoist up a beer
Feeling no pain

A Change Will Do You Good

2000 Danny Taddei

My landing gear touched Treasure Cay
And nothing looked the same
There were no trees or turquoise shacks
A hurricane to blame
Oh I boarded my old trusty sloop
That somehow lived to tell
And I sailed on down toward White Sound
That had been blown to hell
The sea was calm one lonely palm
Gave shelter to a friend
Who had lived his life aboard his boat
That had met an early end
He was a character of many tales
His stories made me late
Now living off of fish and snails
He had no bitter hate

And he told me then, yes he said my friend
A change will do you good
If you want to live your best days last
A change will do you good

I met a man in Nassau
And I thought I’d ask his woes
He had lost his hand to grifter man
Who had conned him with his glow
Forty years of working hard
And nothing left to show
At sixty-five and without a dime
That must be hard to let it go
But he made a plan to leave the land
And sail with new-found friends
His wrinkled eyes just came alive
As he laid back in the sand

And he told me then, he said my friend
A change will do you good
If you want to live your best days last
A change will do you good
Now playing in a steel drum band
With no hope for fame or gold
I just chuckle when those tourists talk
Because I hear my stories told
I said say to them you know my friend
A change can do you good
If you want to live your best days last
A change will do you good

And I say to them
I say “my friends”
A change can do you good
If you want to live your best days last
A change will do you good

And I say to them
I say “my friend”
A change will do you good
If you want to live your best days last
Oh a change will do you good
Yes a change will do you good
A change will do you good
